It is a wonder to me that the artist of this highly accomplished little portrait cannot be found listed anywhere
The studio sales flooded the market with her later work
I bought this from the great Grant Waters the author of the eponymous Art Dictionary and it has hung in my last two houses
from the Towner Art Gallery in the 1950s
suggesting it might have been painted at the same time
